Balancing realities

The two realities are balancing key events. I do not understand what the reason but there are many opposites.

1. In normal reality, Desmond tells Charlie he is going to die, not matter what he does because the universe will correct. In alternate reality Charlie should die and the universe will not let him die.

2. In normal reality Locke tries to kill Desmond, in alternate reality Desmond tries to kill Locke.

3. In alternate reality Locke likes his father, stays with his girlfriend and accepts his limitations

4. In alternate reality Hurley has nothing but good luck.

5. Desmond has the approval of Charles Whitmore.
